This past August, I attended AFROPUNK Music Festival in Brooklyn, to which my biggest inspiration and "best friend in my head", Solange, was headlining. I've always been the biggest fan of hers, and as a tribute to her phenomenal work with "A Seat at the Table" I decided to wear my hair with an arrangement of beads, similar to her look in the "Don't Touch my Hair" video. I was also inspired by the original, Patrice Rushen, who was known for such a standout style in the 80s. Needless to say, my hairstyle was a huge success and standout at the festival. The beauty of black hair is its diversity and myriad of beautiful styles we are able to create that not only reflect our own personal style but also our culture. Shoutout to my friend Justin, who captured the sultry essence of the style with my own personality.
